mental ward

our white robes

mental ward

Film still via Warner Brothers (Source: http://www.slate.com)

I am grieving for those who have died unaware
wearing grave clothes as if they’re garments fit for a prince
I am grieving because we’re like secret agents
mistakenly confined into mental prisons
mingling with disillusioned and dreamy-eyed co-patients
And yet we are, not secret agents
We only think too highly of ourselves

It’s like we’ve lost touch of the very thing
that made it worthwhile to be labeled crazy
It’s like all that was left of us is our pride
It’s like we’ve lost it, while thinking that it’s the world that has
lost it

I am grieving for us who have died unaware
wearing hospital clothes, but still thinking we’re robed like kings
